I’ll be sending $1,000 US today. I’ve borrowed the money so I don’t have to wait for the checks to arrive. Thanks to all of you who have contacted me about checks they’re sending today. If you’re sending money, or have sent it but haven’t contacted me, please let me know (by email) so I know what’s coming. Bob called me yesterday to tell me about a way to send the money directly (to avoid having to open a bank account which is time consuming and costly) and cheaply (can send up to $1,500 for only $10). This will be a big help.
Here’s a short list of places that can be contacted to advise them of the situation. I’ll try to update as I get more info.
Website for President Calderon (here you can write a message and send it)
CNNMéxico.com (apparently there’s been nothing on CNN TV which usually has information about any type of situation like this)
firstname.lastname@example.org o al (55) 5905-3963 y 64.
The above 2 would be better written in Spanish, although I imagine they have people who can read English
For the tourism departments (you can write in English)
mexonline.com/mextur.htm (for a list of Mexican tourism offices in the US and Canada)
Presidente: Carlos Ramirez – he is in support, so a short email thanking him for his support might help.
This is the latest from the Mexican news service notisistema:
Announcing the mobilization in support of ousted communities of Tenacatita
In marking the commoration of the birth of the revolutionary hero Emiliano Zapata, local and federal congresspeople and senators endorsed their support for the ousted communities on the coast of the municipality of La Huerta, at Tenacatita beach and announced mobilizations starting this week, including the taking of the Governmental Palace, considering that the state executive ousted residents and tourists in the zone of El Rebalsito, with agents of the Secretary of Security, to favor businessmen. The national leader of the CNC (National Confederaton of Campesinos), Cruz Lopez Aguilar says, “Accompanied also by the CNC or an important contingent of the CNC, if this is what the Governor of Jalisco wants, this is what we’re going to give him…”
Thanks again to all those who are helping by spreading the word, sending money, communicating with the people down there, praying and thinking positive. Everything helps. dobie
P.S. I also heard that they’re not going to La Huerta today to deal with the titled properties. I don’t know any more about that.
