During the day, typical Mexican airports offer the usual services any traveler has come to expect. You’ll be able to rent a car, call home, change money, buy a magazine, have a snack and a drink or pick up a souvenir “Life’s a Beach” T-shirt.
Most flights arrive and depart Mexico during daylight hours, however, and this leads to lapses in airport services. Once the last scheduled flight of the day has arrived or departed, the airport quickly becomes a ghost town. If your flight comes in an hour or two late, don’t expect to find rental car agents, food service or much more than a sleepy cab driver.
