Letter from a Reader: Safe Living in Michoacan

editor’s note: Julissa Gonzalez sent us the following letter about life in one of our favorite states. We love to hear from those of you who are still living the Mexican Dream. If you have any questions about living or traveling in Michoacán, please post them in the comments section.

Dear Carl and Lorena,
I was just browsing your site when I noticed that there is a lot of concern on living in Mexico.  Well, I do live in Mexico in the state of Michoacan and really am very happy living there.  The safety issue is an issue when you are out and about at late in the night, as in any place in the world, or consorting with people that might not be doing things that are within the limits of the law.  Of course, there are occasions when you see military personnel on the streets or in airports.  We must remember they are there to protect all people.  We as Americans have seen this happen in other countries with our on military.  I really believe that if you are minding your own business, treating people like you want to be treated you will be left alone.  I moved to Mexico going on two years and do have to say my stress level a diminished significantly, while you don’t have some comforts from home it is all worth to me!   If you have any questions don’t hesitate to write!

    Hi Julissa!
Would you care to write more and share where you have chosen to live in Michoacán? If it wouldn’t be intrusive, something about your life, where you shop, your hobbies? Life is never boring in México! I’d love to read more! Thank you!

  2. Agree with David, have you a blog?
